Why did you choose the Medieval and Early Modern Studies programme?

The opportunity to specialise in the Middle Ages while retaining your own areas of focus, interdisciplinary structure of the Master's programme

What did you particularly like about your degree programme?

Choice of many participating subject areas, focus on academic writing

What was the most surprising thing about your degree programme?

Being able to make connections between the knowledge you learnt in your Bachelor's degree and previously unfamiliar subject areas.

What did you originally want to be and what do you actually do today?

I only had vague plans (including publishing), but during my studies I was already thinking about doing a doctorate, which I now have the opportunity to do.

What does a typical working day look like for you?

I work in research and research organisation, plan and hold courses independently and am currently working on my own dissertation project.

How did your degree programme prepare you for your current job?

Through the strong focus on specialisation and scientific methodology (both theoretically and practically through writing term papers).

What advice would you give to future students?

Take advantage of the breadth of the Master's programme in Medieval and Early Modern Studies if you are enthusiastic about the Middle Ages and want to look beyond your own horizons.
