Tasks of the examination board

  • It ensures compliance with the examination regulations.
  • It decides on the admission of applicants to the Master's degree programme "Medieval and Early Modern Studies".
  • It assigns the topic of the MA thesis.
  • It is responsible for recognising examination results for the Master's degree programme.
  • It examines and decides on appeals against the assessment of examination results and against other examination notices. Corresponding applications must be addressed to the Chair of the Examination Board and submitted to the Examination Office by the deadline. (ASPO 2015 §31 para. 5)
  • He organises the archiving and inspection of examination results. You can find the form for viewing your examination results here.
  • It examines and decides on applications for deadline extensions.

Deadline extensions (study time, submission of examinations, etc.)

Submit your request in an informal letter in paper form. Give reasons for your application and be sure to enclose relevant supporting documents (certificates etc.). To submit your application, come to the office hours of the committee chairperson (see above).

Recognition of examination achievements

  • General information from the Examinations Office on the recognition procedure can be found here.
  • For the recognition of examinations for the Master's degree programme, please come to the office hours of the committee chairperson. Registration is not necessary.
  • Please note that an application for recognition of credits from previous degree programmes may only be submitted once, within the first semester of the new degree programme at JMU (ASPO/LASPO 2015, § 18 para. 4). Once this deadline has passed, any credits you have earned in another German Studies degree programme at JMU can no longer be transferred to your new degree programme!
  • If you already have a form with examination credits from the other major or minor subject, please bring this with you to determine the upgrade.
