Masterstudiengang "Mittelalter und Frühe Neuzeit"
The Master's in Medieval and Early Modern Studies is an officially accredited degree programme (1-subject Master's, 120 ECTS), which is supported by fourteen departments at Julius-Maximilians-Universität in the Collegium for Medieval and Early Modern Studies. The programme is interdisciplinary and research-oriented. It offers students significant flexibility to organise their studies according to their subject-specific interests and to use them to develop a specialist profile. The aim of the programme is to lay the foundations for employment either in academia or for qualified work in the field of cultural work outside the university.
In addition to full-time study (1 subject, 120 ECTS, 4 semesters of standard study time), the Master's program in Medieval and Early Modern History will also be available as a part-time program (1 subject, 120 ECTS, 8 semesters of standard study time) starting in the summer semester of 2026.
The part-time program allows for twice the standard period of study (8 semesters instead of 4). It is aimed at anyone whose personal circumstances do not allow them to study full-time or who consciously decide against doing so. It is possible to switch from full-time to part-time study (and vice versa) after 2 semesters. For general information on part-time study at JMU, see here.
Applications for the 2026 summer semester must be submitted by January 15, 2026!
